Green Energy Doors Open 2017 At Kortright Centre for Conservation

Join Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA) and Green Energy Doors Open for a fun-filled day of tours, talks and toys! Learn about sustainable living on a self-guided tour of the Archetype Sustainable House, or join a guided walk along the Innovation Trail to learn about renewable energy and to tour our newly renovated off-grid cottage.

Want to learn more about how energy is used in your home, and discover ways to help reduce your electrical bills? Join our expert staff for a 45-minute energy literacy discussion. You'll also have the opportunity to chat with electric vehicle owners, who will be on hand with their cars to help educate consumers about the newest, greenest way to drive.

Kids can "test-drive" our toy solar cars, and bake cookies in our solar oven!


While this is a free family event, pre-registration is appreciated.

Honey Harvest Festival

Honey Harvest Festival 2015 At Kortright Centre for Conservation

September 17th & 18th

10 am to 4 pm

Did you know that bees pollinate approximately 1/3 of the food we eat? Did you know that Honey Bees make about 1 teaspoon of honey in their life time and are the only insect that makes food for human consumption? Join us at Kortright's Honey Harvest Festival to learn about and celebrate the life of these incredible insects!

Enjoy music and entertainment, tour the bee space, meet a beekeeper, taste honey, make crafts, play bee games, build bee habitat and much more!

Festival Activities include:

  • Tour the Kortright Bee House and see millions of honey bees making honey
  • Meet a beekeeper and learn interesting facts about bees and bee conservation
  • Taste Kortright's Honey
  • See cooking with honey demonstrations
  • Enjoy music and entertainment
  • Get your face painted
  • Buy some local and natural honey
  • Enjoy an outdoor BBQ
  • Play bee games and dance the honey bee dance
  • Create some bee-themed art
  • Dress as a beekeeper and get your photo taken
  • Buy organic produce grown at the Kortright Farm
  • Build bee habitat structures

Magical Christmas Forest 2017 At Kortright Centre for Conservation

December 2-4, 8-11, 15-18 & 23

5 pm to 9 pm

Experience the magic of Christmas at Kortright this December. The forest comes to life with lights, friendly elves and your favorite Christmas characters. Visit Santa's workshop to see the elves at work. Play games, make Christmas crafts and watch a Christmas movie in our theater. Enjoy carols and Christmas treats by the fire.

Each child will have the chance to visit Santa's cabin and tell Santa their Christmas wish.
