GARDENING FOR A CHANGING CLIMATE

Grades 5-8

Explore how gardens support climate resilience through hands-on planting and garden care. Learn how drought-tolerant, flood-resistant, food, and pollinator gardens help manage water, support biodiversity, and reduce climate impacts.

Examine how flooding and drought can shape landscapes, explore the role of biodiversity in supporting native species, and consider how human actions can mitigate environmental change. We will extend the learning by supporting students in applying climate-smart gardening practices in their own communities.
