ARCHAEOLOGY 101

ARCHAEOLOGY 101
January 29, 2018 David Todd

In this program students will experience a hands-on simulation of a real archaeological excavation.

student holds artifact at archaeological dig site

The program begins with a brief introduction to the science of archaeology and a hands-on examination of some real artefacts from an actual village from the 1500s which was excavated on the Kortright property. In an outdoor area, students will shovel and sift through the upper layer of soil to look for artefacts. Just like in a real Ontario archaeological dig, they will find objects made from stone, bone and clay.
