GROWTH AND CHANGE IN PLANTS

Have fun learning about the characteristics, life cycles, and importance of plants in nature.

Students will observe a wide variety of native plants in their natural environment. They will identify the major parts of plants and describe their functions. They will also learn how to classify plants according to their physical characteristics.

Students will investigate how plants grow, plant life cycles, and the seasonal changes of plants in nature. They will examine how the growth of plants is affected by environmental conditions. Most importantly, they will develop an appreciation of and respect for the importance of plants as souces of food and shelter for people and animals and suppliers of much of the world’s oxygen.
